Gil woke up, feeling a heavy weight on his chest. He opened his eyes and smiled, Greg was spread out on top of him asleep. He ran a hand through the unruly hair of the young blond with a sigh. He thought about the call he’d received yesterday from Horatio, telling him that a new Angel would be born. He was worried about Speed as always when it involved a small child, but they had no control over that. To put it in Speed’s words, ‘The Gods upstairs are doing it again’. He always got a little angry at them when something like this happened.
“I can hear you thinking,” Greg looked up at him with groggy eyes.
“Good morning,” Gil smiled at him.
Greg smirked,” Mmhmm, good morning. You’re worried about Tim?” Greg had heard stories about the Angels living in Miami. “Tell me if I’m right, okay? So Speed can feel when a new Angel will be born?” He looked at Gil, who nodded in response. He continued, “And Horatio can see into the future? So how is it then he couldn’t see that she would be killed by that creep?” Greg shuddered, remembering what Gil had told the team what had happened to Ruthie.
Gil moved his hand up and down Greg’s back; he knew the young man still had a lot of questions. “It’s not that easy,” he started. “Horatio can only see certain things. And no matter what he sees, he still can’t interfere in that future. So sometimes it’s really hard for the both of them.”
Greg nodded in understanding. “So in a few days she’ll be an Angel and your community will protect her till she grows up? You really have to explain that to me, she will be a grown up like you and me?”
Gil smiled at his lover excitement, “Yeah she will. Angels do grow up you know, not all of them where mature when they became an Angel. Speed was born in the year 887 in Scotland; it was in the time of the Viking invasion. He and his parents were killed when he was just a young boy, and he became an Angel under my protection,” he explained.
“And he is mated with another Angel, right? Horatio Caine?” Greg had a million questions.
“Yes he is, it’s not common for two Angels to mate, usually they mate with humans but it happens. In New York there are two other Angels mated, Mac Taylor and Danny Messer,” Gil said.
"Oh yeah you told me about them. There are two other Angels there also, right?” Greg was practically bouncing.
Gil laughed at his lover's antics, “Yes, Aiden Burn and Stella Bonasera. Both have no mates at the moment, but I’m pretty sure that will change.”
"There is another one in Miami too right? Alexx Woods?” Greg asked.
“Greg, I know you have a lot of questions and we will try to answer them all. But it’s time to get ready for work.” Gil smiled at him.
Greg sighed, “Yeah I know, we should get ready.” He stretched and took Gil’s mouth in a deep kiss, the older man answered it. They broke it off and Greg stood, turning to face Gil, “But I want to ask…” he stopped when Gil glared at him. “Okay I’ll hold off on the questions till later.”
“You do that,” Gil retorted.

Nick walked down the hallway of the lab towards the break room and sighed when he saw Greg sitting there at the table, drinking coffee. Gil had warned him about the young man asking a lot of questions. “Hey Greg,” he greeted the young man.
“Nick,” the young man stood up walking to him. “How old is Gil?”
Nick rolled his eyes, “No one knows,” he answered.
“How old are you?” he looked at Nick. “And where are your wings? Gil wouldn’t tell me.”
“You know,” Nick started, “your as bad as Eric Delko. After he found out that there were Angels in the lab in Miami, he drove everyone crazy with his questions.”
“So how old…,” he stopped when he saw Nick glare at him.
“Greg hold off on the questions for now will you. We have to make sure Ruthie is protected when she becomes an Angel,” Nick told him.
Greg nodded, aware of the seriousness of the situation,” Fallen Angels,” he stated.
Nick sighed, “Yeah and they are a real pain in the butt. Then there are your Demons, hired by Fallen Angels to do their dirty work.”
“Demons? As in real Demons?” Gregg practically bounced.
“Now you did it,” Warrick laughed as he entered the break room. “Yes Greg there are Demons too, good and bad ones.” Warrick informed him.
“So you guys have to fight against Demons too, cool.” Greg grinned.
Before Nick could answer his cell went off, he looked at the display a frown on his forehead, “Speed everything okay down there?” he asked without greeting the young man, knowing how serious the call could be.
‘Yeah, so far so good. No sign of Stetler and his goons,’ Speed answered. ‘And on your side?’
“Well everything is quiet at the moment. But you know what they say, ‘Calm before the storm’.” Nick commented.
‘Damn,’ Speed cursed.
“Speed? What’s wrong?” Nick asked concerned.
‘I guess that storm arrived. Got to go, talk to you later,’ the line went dead.
“Fucking bastard,” Nick was angry. Warrick walked up to him, laying a hand on his shoulder.
“Nicky?” Gil entered the break room.
“The lab in Miami is under attack as we speak,” Nick answered Gil.
“They can handle it right?” Greg asked.
“I hope they can, I truly do.” Gil stated.
